چکیده

This study represents the first attempt of integration, within a Forest Management Plan (FMP), Geographic Information System (GIS) and an Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) approach for selection most suitable logging method. It is important to underline that developed methodology applicable worldwide in each environmental context which there need planning intervention selecting from among several possible methods or harvesting systems. Schematically, main aims this were: (i) develop GIS-AHP method based on open-access GIS software; (ii) compare results simulations statements two different groups experts around world, determine reliability predictive probability The extraction performed with RTS (experts research technical sector) input data showed option major part area was cable skidder, followed by yarder, finally forwarder. system OS (people operative revealed limited differences. Thus, considering what reported above, it assert applied good performance high consistency best alternatives methods. idea comparing obtained survey pool researchers forest engineers (RTS) taken as target simulation be evaluated. derived expert operators (OS) used check other simulation. innovation these kinds studies. were encouraging, 51 sub-compartments, only changed selected between OS.

A Hierarchical Approach to Spatial Forest Planning

This paper describes a hierarchical approach to spatial forest planning developed by Remsoft that can be used to create harvest blocks which meet maximum opening, green-up, and other constraints. The approach relies heavily on decisions and tradeoffs made during long term strategic analysis to simplify the blocking phase and to ensure that the harvest blocks generated meet long term objectives ...

Decision Support for Participatory Forest Planning Using AHP and TOPSIS

Long-term forest management planning often involves several stakeholders with conflicting objectives, creating a complex decision process. Multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) presents a promising framework for finding solutions in terms of suitable trade-offs among the objectives. However, many of the MCDA methods that have been implemented in forest management planning can only be used ...

The MIMOSE Approach to Support Sustainable Forest Management Planning at Regional Scale in Mediterranean Contexts

In recent decades, Mediterranean landscapes have been affected by human-induced drivers, such as land use and climate change. Forest ecosystems and landscapes have been particularly affected in mountainous regions due to limited management and stewardship, especially in remote areas. Therefore, there is a need to set up new strategies to enhance ecosystem services in forested areas which, in tu...

Operational monitoring of forest logging activities: an application of Precision Forestry approach for monitoring cable cranes logging operations

An important aspect to Precision Forestry (PFOR) is implementing operational monitoring of forest chain logistics. PFOR can be considered as the application of information technology (IT) to the forest sector. Its introduction has the aim to improve the efficiency and the performances of the forest sector, including all the related monitoring activities to satisfy management tasks. So PFOR has ...
